Sleep disturbances

Sleep disturbances respond well to hypnosis and you could soon be having the restful night you long for

Many people have some difficulties with sleep at some point in their lives, often in the first few stages of sleep  - lying awake, becoming restless and frustrated and watching the time moving slowly towards getting up time.  Hypnotherapy can help effect rapid change.

Waking and sleeping is regulated by our body clock and each night of sleep has a rhythm of its own running through five stages.  But sometimes our rhythm gets out of sync' (eg due to flights across time-zones or unusual and disturbed sleeping patterns) and we can find that when we want to sleep may not be when we are able to sleep.  As the night wears on our sleep cycle repeats itself around every 90 minutes in 5 progressively shortening stages. Sometimes dreams can recur night after night disrupting our sleep pattern and we begin to expect to wake-up during specific dreams at specific times, which is very stressful and tiring.   Sleep problems can also be manifestations of deeper issues such as anxiety or depression.  Insomnia is an inability to fall asleep or to stay asleep for an adequate length of time resulting in chronic tiredness that badly affects your daily life.

Bruxism (grinding or clecnching your teeth as you sleep)

This is a mainly  unconscious and involuntary activity involving the excessive grinding, tapping or clenching of the teeth with considerable force which often cause sounds that can be a problem for other people eg a partner may be kept awake by the high pitched sound of grinding.

Clinical hypnotherapy is particularly effective in dealing with bruxism  and its consequences which, if severe, can damage the teeth and jaw joints due to wearing and or compression.

Snoring

Some have said that snoring is not a problem for the snorer, but for those that sleep with them!  Although hypnotherapy can be used to enable partners to tune-out the sound of snoring,  it is not usually the first choice for treatment.  Snoring in most common in men and especially older, middle-aged and obese men with around 40 per cent of all adults snoring.
